Hi All,

I plan to expend the ship portfolio in 2014 with even more medieval ships, the question is just which ship should be part of the 2014 lineup? If you have any suggestions then please share an image or two in this thread...

I want to say that almost all vehicles in the Middle Ages were more military transport than fighting ... In the best case , they served as a platform for the battle on the water. Their only weapon - was the speed and maneuverability. But there was an exception - " dromon " Byzantium. Because they preserved the traditions of antiquity arms ship . Also catapults with " Greek fire " - the most terrible weapons , they were also nasal rams (probably) and " crow " - a device similar to a crane with a heavy load , which destroyed the hull of the enemy in close combat ...

Well Alex, I think that it is this type of ships that you think about? The Byzantine Dromon is definitely an interesting ship and would be a magnificent piece.

Well the next three ships will be:

- A new riverboat, room for horses, more shields on castle and a front beam
- Russian ship, with simple front and mix of round and kite style shields
- Russian ship, new kite shields and more of them...

Wow, that is one really big ship... I actually do not think that it will be possible to print in 1/72 scale, due to the big size...

Wow!! I'm not into marine subjects but this is impressive, especially to a Maltese like me :-) I will try to pay a visit to the Maltese Maritime Museum in Birgu and look for some info on subjects that might interest you, like the Grandmaster's ceremonial barges at 0.48 - 0.51 in the video below:

Well next ship project have been started (5 min ago). This time we will move into the mediteranian and into one of the most powerful city-states opt the medieval period... Venice.
The ship will be one of the larger ships from the city and similar to the type of ship used to build up the wealth of Marco polos family.

Medieval Venitian Ship

Its a little late in period, but I am working on a model of the Mary Rose... is there any chance of some crew figures for your boats, maybe climbing up ropes, coiling them up, or pulling on them to raise sails or similar??? I would think the clothes don't change that much!
