Medieval Kogge

Hi All,

Just wanted to show a picture of a big Kogge that visited Copenhagen last weekend. The funny thing is that it is the one which my 3D model is based on.

I didn´t think they were so small. Also..the wood looks a lot darker than I would have expected.

As far as I understand - the wood was treated with tar :)

Yes they did use tar to make sure that water could not enter, they used it together with wool. Actually the ship was quite big and at this time this would have been the master of the sea.

So painting one up to give it a brownish or dark grey wood effect would be historically wrong?
