Medieval Jews

Hi, I would love to see a set of medieval Jews in Western/Central Europe. Townsmen, merchants, Rabbis, scholars, wearing the yellow hat and the Rouelle badge would be great to see. Thanks for your consideration.

Some points to remember:
Jews only wore the Yellow Hat when they ventured outside the ghetto;
Contemporary evidence shows that by the 15th century, many Jews went clean shaven and didn't wear robes like the elders;
The "Rouelle"/"Rota"/"Wheel" badge (yellow, hollow circle) was sewn onto the front and the back of their doublet or cloak so that they could be recognised from all directions.

very interesting information. Thanks for sharing. Jens I would suggest you open a folder called "Reference" where members can post information which others can find useful for their projects.

It is an interesting idea.the representation of the jewish community is one that is neglegted in scale figure modelling...though the clothes seem mostly like most other clothes of the period (except the priests) and one could maybe just use say a fig from the medieval citizens from Erik Trauner´s or Alex´s citizens and add the yellow circles..or?

Well you would need a few figures with the Judenhutte at least. Plus many medieval civilians seem to be drinking and fighting which doesn't really fit the purpose. Alternately Valdemar could just release a general set of medieval civilians with some Jews added in.
